Since the dawn of the modern age and the industrialization of the western world, in addition to labor and capital, another currency rose to importance which was people’s ability to do certain things also known as talent. Therefore businesses and organizations are not competing over only resources and market share, but also capabilities of the workforce.

With the emergence of the worldwide web as businesses became more agile and productive, the demand for talent started to rise drastically. However in the era of speed and access, talent alone was not enough to stay ahead of competition and the ability to innovate became compulsory to the effectiveness of one’s talents and abilities. Therefore companies started appealing to the innovative aspects of their labor force alongside nurturing their God-given talents.

In an innovative environment, employees find the opportunity to express ideas freely and work either individually or in teams to bring their ideas to life. Also it is known for a fact that free expression of innovative ideas can create an atmosphere of bonding and synergy among employees which in turn can lead to more innovative and effective solutions. A great example of such is the shared working spaces in companies, universities and tech parks all over the world.

So in order to keep up with the needs and demands of today’s tech-crazed society, companies should aim not only at attracting the best and brightest, but also the most innovative that are willing to push the boundaries of what is possible and alter the human experience.
